The Aftershocks Continued... The April 6 earthquake in L'Aquila and surrounding towns in Abruzzo has left more than 270 dead, about 28,000 homeless, and nearly 18,000 living in the tent cities. Hundreds of aftershocks, some quite strong, have rattled the region since the initial quake, inflicting more damage, taking more lives, and hampering rescue efforts. But in this tragedy are glimmers of hope: People have been pulled alive from the rubble ... Hotel owners in Abruzzo have made hundreds of rooms available for the victims ... Relatives and friends from other areas not affected have traveled to the decimated region to deliver food and clothing …
With your help, The Sons of Italy Foundation has raised or received pledges nearing $50,000 in less than two days to aid L'Aquila, Onno and the rest of the area with recovery.
So We Must Continue... Your generosity will make a strong impact on relief efforts.
Colavita USA has also joined the effort and is directing donations to the Sons of Italy Foundation's Earthquake Relief Fund. We thank Colavita for being a corporation that is willing to step up when others need it most.
But more must be done to help the victims. Please pass this bulletin along to your family, friends, colleagues, associates and anyone you know who would like to be part of this important humanitarian effort.
